Achieva has been addressing the difficult adjustments and lifestyle changes for individuals with disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially now as the crisis lingers into 2021. The questions have been asked: What is Assistive Technology? How are our consumers securing and utilizing the Assistive Technology (AT) devices and adaptations necessary to reach out to the larger community, to feel included on a daily basis? More than ever, the use of AT is vital for people to remain involved on multiple levels. Assistive technology is assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities. Assistive technology promotes greater independence by enabling people to perform tasks they were formerly unable to accomplish or had great difficulty accomplishing, by providing enhancements to, or changing methods of interacting with, the technology needed to accomplish such tasks and to remain socially involved with the larger Community.
A panel of experts from Tobii Dynavox, TechOWL, Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF), and Blind & Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh, will share their knowledge about AT devices and adaptations, promoted by their agency/company, which expands the world for their consumers. View how some of these devices are utilized in various scenarios.
